Nizam Uddin Hazari, MP has rejected speculations of his instigating the murder of Phulgazi upazila chairman Ekramul Haque and termed Joynal Hazari’s statement against him false and an attempt to fish in muddy waters, he said in an interview.
Talking to Journalists over telephone last night, Nizam Hazari said he was ready to cooperate with fair and independent investigation into the gustily crime.“I want all associated with the murder to be identified and punished even if investigators find me responsible, since I am not above the law,” he said.
Nizam Hazari, also former mayor, said none proving to have involvement in the murder should escape, he said joining to initial investigation of about 60 people who, RAB has said have been found to have take part in the broad day light film-style killing on May 20.
“Question does not arise to kill him since we had a good relation and there was no misunderstanding among us till his death,” he said.
Echoing the prime minister’s statement, Nizam Hazari said the killers whatever their identities are must be punished and they should not be spared. “I want even a single killer involved in the murder is not spared,” he added.
Nizam Hazari observed that the murder might not take place due to internal feud rather he indicated that there might be hands of his election rival Minar, a BNP candidate who contested in the upazila poll against him. In this regard, he mentioned that Minar had attacked on Ekram for several time before the election and Ekram had filed a general diary against him.
He however, said that he do not want to say that Minar was involved in it rather the fact would be unveiled through carrying out a fair investigation.
Nizam Hazari claimed the main accused Zahid who was caught from Feni last night is a cousin of Minar. He however said Zahid was involved in Awami League politics and he was expelled from the district AL some 20 days ago.
“I do not accuse anyone, a fair investigation can unveil the truth and involvement of the perpetrators,’ he said.
He also alleged that Abid, one of the accused is still involved with politics of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal.
Asked to comment on Joynal Hazari’s comment that most of the accused are people of Nizam Hazari, he said as general secretary of the district AL it is his responsibility to own all party leaders and activists till he belong the post.
He however made it clear that if any party leaders or activists are found involved with the incident they must be tried and organsiation measures would be taken against them.
He said he wants to take all types of steps to keep Feni peaceful.
Nizam Hazari rejected the allegations and said he was a graduate not a class nine pass out, he did not conceal anything to reduce his jail term and also that he did not work as a driver of Joynal Hazari.
He thinks that Joynal Hazari is making different comment against him being jealous as he has been elected lawmaker from Feni Sadar unopposed.
“The people of Feni do not want Joynal Hazari anymore for his past misdeeds. People are not beside him,” he added. – Staff Reporter
