Dhaka, May 22 – Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal Tuesday said they have complaint against ruling party lawmaker Abdur Rahman Bodi of Cox’s Bazar-4 but they have no evidence of his involvement in dealing with drug business.“We have complaints against lawmaker Bodi. We are looking into the complaints. Please provide us, if you (journalists) have any information about drug dealers including Bodi. WE have complaints against but don’t have any evidence,” he said while talking to reporters at his office at the secretariat.
He said this when asked as to why the government does not take any measures against Bodi, the MP of Teknaf-Ukhiya constituency, despite having complaints about his involvement in drug business.
The home minister made it clear that crossfire is not being taken in the country, it is gunfight whatever is taking place.
He said the police is going forward against drug dealers with zero tolerance policy.
His comments came amid the ongoing countrywide raids against drug dealers when death news of drug dealers in gun fights are coming from different parts of the country.
Bodi is reportedly in the front row of the lists of drug dealers prepared by law enforcers including RAB, police and the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC).
The home minister informed that over 2,000 drug dealers have been poured in jails after giving them punishment by the mobile courts trail. – Staff Reporter
