A motorcycle of an official of National Security Intelligence (NSI) was torched by the hartal supporters at Palashbari upazila town in the district on Thursday.
According to sources Jatiyatabi Shechchhasebak Dal (JSD), a wing of BNP, called a hartal in Palashbari upazila town from 6 am to 2 pm demanding immediate release of detained leaders president of JSD Mir Sarfat Ali Sapu, organizing secretary Shafiul Bari Babu and president of upazila JSD Warifur Rahman Liton.
During the hartal junior field officer (JFO) of NSI Ahsan Kabir was on official duty there.
When he reached the Tinmatha intersection of the upazila town at around 11 am with his motorbike, the picketers suddenly attacked him and torched his motorcycle.
The pickets left the scene hurriedly before the police reached the spot.
Officer-in-charge of Palashbari thana Nasir Uddin Mondal confirmed the incident.
A case was recorded with thana concerned in this connection. –BSS, Gaibandha
