Nursing students demonstrate at SBMCH campus

The students of Barisal Nursing College at Sher-e-Bangla Medical
College and Hospital campus staged demonstrations on Sunday to press
home their 6-point demand.
Their demands are introduction of a six to twelve months internship
after the completion of 4-year BSC in Nursing course, fixing the
stipend at Tk 3,000 for each student and allowing students to wear
aprons on top of their uniforms during clinical practice, introducing
master level MSc Nursing course, quota in BCS for employment, opening
nursing faculty.
To realise their demands, the 260 nursing students of the college
stopping academic activities and seized their college campus for
4-hour from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
The demonstration rally was addressed by Ziaur Rahman, Rowshanara
Khanam, Sima Haldar, Mahmud Hasan, Dipayan Sangma, Sohel Mia, Kaniz
Fatema, Mitu Ahmed, and Parvez Kabir.
The speakers said they will continue demonstrating until all demands are met.
Mentionable nursing students not allowed wearing apron on their
uniform and per head given Tk 850 monthly stipend with a yearly raise
of Tk50 during their 48-month-long course without internship.
