A court in Pabna sentenced one person to life term imprisonment on Wednesday for killing a man in 2009.
Judge Munshi Mohammad Moshiar Rahman of the Additional Sessions Judge’s Court-1 pronounced the verdict. Court sources said fisherman Jamrul Sheikh of Shakharipara in Ataikula was on way to the Eid congregation on the day of Eid-ul-Adha on Nov 28, 2009 when the accused Tayez Khan and his seven associates hacked him to death.Victim’s wife Rabeya Khatun filed a case on that night with Ataikula Police Station. Sub-inspector Saiful Islam, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted charge sheet on November 4, 2010.Judge Moshiar Rahman ordered to release the other accused.Lawyers Abdul Ahad Babu and Abdul Hamid moved for the defence while assistant public prosecutor Akhtaruzzaman Mukta for the state. -UNB, Pabna
