One killed over land dispute in Tangail

Tangail – An elderly man was allegedly beaten to death by rivals over land related dispute in Babna para village in Sadar upazila on Sunday.The deceased was identified as Nur Hossain, 75, a resident of the village.Jahirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Nagarpur Police Station, said there had been a longstanding dispute between Nur and his nephew Dulal Miah of the village.

On Sunday evening, Dulal along with his supporters attacked the house of Nur and beat him mercilessly.At one point, the attackers hit Nur with a brick, which left him critically injured.Later, he died on his way to Tangail Medical College Hospital.Four others were also injured in the clash.On information, police arrested seven people — Dulal Bepari, 55, Awal Bepari, 52, Alai Bepari, 30, Mizan Bepari, 45, Ripon, 22, JIban, 18 and Nazmul, 18 — from the village.A case was filed in this connection with Nagarpur Police Station.
