Dhaka-The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Thursday fixed June 26 for submission of the report after re-investigation into the sexual harassment of several women during the Pahela Baishakh celebration on Dhaka University campus last year.Magistrate AKM Moinuddin Siddiqui of the CMM Court passed the order as the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) failed to submit the report yesterday (Thursday).
On May 17, last year, AKM Shahidul Haque, Inspector General of Police had informed that they had identified eight miscreants through closed circuit (CC) camera. Besides, he declared a bounty of Tk one lakh to catch each miscreant.
On April 14, last year, a group of youths assaulted and sexually harassed some women at Suhrawardy Udyan gate near Dhaka University’s TSC during the Pahela Baishakh celebrations. The following day, SI Abul Kalam Azad of Shahbagh Police Station filed the case with the police station.-Court Correspondent
