Dhaka-A tribunal of Dhaka on Thursday sentenced three persons to life term imprisonment and three others to a 10-year rigorous imprisonment each for killing engineer Asad Khandaker of Sirajdikhan upazilla of Munshiganj in 2013.Dhaka’s Speedy Trial Tribunal-3 Judge Syed Ahmed pronounced the verdict in his crowded courtroom on Thursday. The life-term imprisoned convicts are- Mohsin Khan, Alamgir Hossain and Sagor. The court also fined them Tk 10,000 each.
Other three convicts are-Oliur Rahman, Md Aminul Islam Khan and Mizan. Besides, the court acquitted the remaining 10 accused persons, as the prosecution could not prove their allegations against them, beyond all doubts.
According to the case statement, on October 21, 2013, a group of armed miscreants attacked engineer Asad Khandaker while he was riding on motorcycle in Rajnagar Bazar area of the upazilla. Later, the accused stabbed the victim, leaving him critically injured.
Asad was rushed to Mitford Medical College Hospital in the capital where the physicians declared him dead.
The victim’s mother Anwara Begum filed a murder case with Munshiganj Thana.-Court Correspondent
