Dhaka – Bangladesh’s hotshot golfer Siddikur Rahman finished second in the US$400,000 Panasonic Open India as he was one shot behind the maiden Asian Tour (AT) title winner, a local talent, Khalin Joshi on the final day at Delhi Golf Club’s course on Sunday.
Two-time AT winner 33-year-old Siddikur signed for a three-under-par 69 in the final round where he was highlighted by four birdies against one dismal bogey, considerably the title losing cause, at his favourite par-72 course measuring 6,935 yards.
Siddikur started his campaign in the flagship, sharing second slot after signing for a bogey-free five-under 67 in the first round before grabbing a one shot joint lead with Thai talent Suradit Yongcharoenchai carding a six-under 66 at the halfway stage.
Delhi expert Siddikur maintained the same margin, joint lead with Joshi, after the penultimate round carding a two-under-par 70 and finally aggregated 16-under 271 [67-66-70-69] to finish the second.
Siddikur got Brunei Open title in 2010 for his maiden AT success before bagging the Hero Indian Open 2013 at Delhi Golf Club course where he notched seven other top-10s in his career before the day.
Joshi aggregated a 17-under-par 271 [71-68-64-68] total, including a mesmerising eight-under-par 64 in the penultimate round, which helped him grab the joint lead alongside Siddikur, moving up from the joint 15th spot before the final day.In the final round, the 26-year-old carded a four-under-par 68, spurred by six birdies against two bogies, for his maiden AT title.UNB
