Sitting of the Parliament begins at 4:30pm on today after a weeklong recess. The opposition lawmakers will not return to the House, according to sources.“We will not come back to the current session of Parliament until the government places a bill on formation of a non-party election-time government,” BNP lawmaker Advocate Mojibur Rahman Sarwar told The Independent.
The session, which was adjourned for four times, is likely to continue till the announcement of the schedule for the next general poll by the Election Commission.
On November 10, Deputy Speaker Col (Retd) Shawkat Ali adjourned the session till November 18.
The opposition lawmakers had joined the session began on September 12 for a day and staged walked out after placing the non-party election-time formula of opposition leader Khaleda Zia.
Ruling party sources said they would not take any initiative to hold discussion on formation of poll-time government.
They however said that the session might be continued for few more days to consider a number of bills pending with the House.
According to the decision of Business Advisory Committee meeting, the session was scheduled to continue till October 24 and then it was extended to November 7.
The meeting had entrusted the Speaker with the responsibility to extend the duration of the session. – Staff Reporter
