Participation of womenfolk in economic activities stressed

The present government has been implementing massive programmes for enhanced participation of unemployed womenfolk in economic activities to make them self-reliant through their development and empowerment.

Member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges Nazmul Haque Pradhan MP, said at a sewing machine distribution ceremony at Panchagarh Sadar upazila parishad auditorium on Wednesday afternoon as the chief guest.The District Department of Women Affairs of Panchagarh organised the ceremony for distribution of sewing machines among eight trained unemployed women to assist them in achieving self-reliance through income generation activities.Sadar upazila chairman of Panchagarh Anwar Sadat Samrat, its female Vice-chairman Kamrun Nahar Shahin, President of Panchagarh district Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) Abdul Mazid Babul and its General Secretary Abdus Sattar addressed as special guests.Presided over by Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Panchagarh Laila Muntejari, the upazila level government officials and employees of different departments attended the ceremony.Panchagarh District Women Affairs Officer Rukhsana Mamtaz delivered welcome speech narrating the massive activities being conducted by the government for making the unemployed womenfolk self-reliant through income generation activities.In his speech, the chief guest put emphasis on skill development for all citizens including unemployed females to engage their combined efforts as working forces to achieve the long-cherished goal of building an economically self-reliant nation.
He urged both the public and private sectors for engaging coordinated efforts along with government initiatives in turning the unemployed population including women into skilled work forces and creating more job opportunities for their self-reliance.He suggested the beneficiary women for making best use of the sewing machines through applying practical knowledge they achieved earlier from the training course in achieving self-reliance to contribute their own in building a middle income Bangladesh. -BSS, Rangpur
