Talking on the current political trend, Communications Minister Obaidul Quader on Friday said the people are annoyed with politicians for their negative politics.He made the remarks at Mirer Bazar of Pubail after visiting Dhaka-Bypass and Tongi-Ghorashal roads.
The minister said people brace for a volatile situation as the present government is poised to complete its term within months.
About road conditions, he said they have taken all necessary measures to keep the roads fit for plying vehicles ahead of Eid.
Obaidul, however, observed that turning the roads into four-lane, six-lane or eight-lane ones is of no use if there is political instability in the country. “It’s useless to widen the roads if processions keep on occupying roads, and if there’s no discipline on the streets.”
During the visit, he instructed the Roads and Highways Department to speedily complete the repair works on the roads to ease traffic congestions.
Turning to pressure of vehicles on the Tongi-Ghorashal road, the minister said the road will be widened by three feet. – UNB
