People pay last respects to beloved hero Razzak

Dhaka, Aug 22 – People paid their last respects to legendary actor Abdur Razzak, fondly known as Nayak Raj or the King of Heroes, at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka.
Thousands thronged the Dhaka University campus on Tuesday braving the weathers and the traffic in Dhaka to bid farewell to screen icon of Dhallywood.Not only fans but long-time coworkers, ministers, bureaucrats and politicians to paid their tributes highlighting his role in Bangladesh’s film industry and the cultural arena.
“His contribution to the industry was immense,” said ruling Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.
Politicians, cultural personalities and activists converged on the area to say goodbye to Nayak Raj [the king of heroes] Razzak while Sammalito Sangskritik Jote arranged the tribute programme.
Comparing Razzak with Mohanayak Uttam Kumar, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said, “He had contributed to Bangla films for five decades. His death is a great loss to us.”
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed and Health Minister Mohammed Nasim, were among others, present.
Family sources said Razzak will be buried at Banani graveyard at 10 am on Wednesday after arrival of his son Bappy from Canada.
Razzak will be buried at Banani Graveyard after his 2nd namaz-e-janaza at Azad Mosque in Gulshan.
Earlier, his 1st namaz-e-janaza was held on the premises of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) on Tuesday morning.
Razzak’s body was taken to BFDC premises at 11:10 am and his first namaz-e- janaza was held there at 11:35 am. His body was kept there till 12:10 pm enabling his colleagues and admirers to pay their last respect to him.
Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu paid tributes to the iconic actor at the FDC in the morning when a lot of artistes, his co-workers and fans from across the country paid their respects to him with teary eyes.
After paying tributes, Inu said, “His death is a great loss to our film industry. He had worked to revive the name and fame of Bangla films till his death.”
“The government will preserve every work of the legendry actor for the next generation. His contributions to Bangla films will be remembered forever,” Inu added
