Awami League presidium member Mohammad Nasim on Saturday said country’s people will give a befitting reply through the ballots to the violent acts being unleashed by the opposition. “Country’s people will give reply to the violence, including the killing of people by torching vehicles, by the BNP-led 18-party alliance through the ballots in the next parliamentary polls,” he said. The ruling party leader was speaking at a press briefing after a meeting of the 14-party at the Awami League president’s political office at Dhanmondi in the city. Observing that the opposition’s violent acts can no longer be tolerated, Nasim, also the spokesperson of the ruling alliance, urged country’s people to resist those. He also said it seems from the behaviour of the opposition that they want to foil the parliamentary polls by taking the country’s people hostage through carrying out oppressive acts. “But we want to categorically say the solution is possible only in the path of democracy.” – UNB
