Permanent venue to be set up for cultural events: Muhith

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith today urged the Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor to map out a plan for setting up a permanent venue to arrange different cultural events.

The minister made the call while talking to journalists after a coordination meeting for arranging various events.

“You (Asaduzzaman Noor) make a plan for setting up a permanent venue for holding events, I will try to make it happen next year.” Muhith said.

Asaduzzaman Noor requested the Finance Minister for a permanent venue to arrange concerts, cultural programmes and seminars and said “We will have to think about a permanent venue for different programmes.”

“We can turn the International Trade Fair venue into a suitable one where we can arrange both trade fair and other events,” he added.

Referring to security issues in regard to cultural programmes, Muhith said generally the government takes security measures for any kind of cultural programmes and national and international days.

The government has budgetary allocations for all programmes excepting SAARC cultural programmes to ensure adequate security measures for holding all events, he said, adding that special allocation will be made for SAARC cultural programmes, reports BSS.
