PGM MIDF Championship Golf: Sohel finishes joint 31st

Dhaka – Bangladesh’s promising golfer Shakhawat Hossain Sohel ended with the joint 31st slot in the PGM MIDF Championship after three-over 75 in the final round at Kota Seriemas Golf and Country Club course in Malaysia on Saturday.American Sam Gillis secured his maiden Asian Development Tour (ADT) title prevailing in a play-off at the approx. US$58,000 event.
Gillis staged a remarkable comeback when he traded six birdies against two bogeys to card a four-under-par 68 and force a play-off against overnight leader Thailand’s Itthipat Buranatanyarat who returned with a 70 in the final round.

The 23-year-old rookie Gillis went head to head with Itthipat after the duo finished on a 14-under-par 274 total at the end of regulation play. Gillis eventually earned the victory on the third play-off hole.

Sohel, who claimed the PGM Miri Championship title for his maiden ADT in early September in Malaysia, aggregated a four-over-par 292 [72-68-77-75] to share his spot with five other golfers, slipping from joint 23rd spot.UNB
