Miscreants set afire the district unit Awami League office on the Sadar Road in Pirojpur Sadar
upazila headquarters early Friday.
Fire Service sources said a fire erupted at the AL office at about 3:40 am and soon engulfed the
entire office and adjoining Grameenphone customer care centre.
Being informed, fire fighting units rushed in and doused the flame after three hours of frantic
efforts.
When connected, president of the municipality committee of the ruling party Advocate Alauddin
Khan blamed BNP and Jamaat-Shibir men for the arson attack.
Firefighters estimated the loss caused by the fire at about Tk 8 to 10 lakh.
