BNP leader Dr Khandaker Mosharraf has accused the ruling Awami League of trying to cling to power through holding a staged-managed election under its supervision.“Awami League wants to return to power through holding staged-managed polls under a partisan government, but their dream won’t come true,” he said. The BNP leader made the remark while addressing a pre-iftar discussion organised by Daudkandi upazila unit of Jubo Dal at Raipur High School on Wednesday.Reaffirming the opposition’s strong stance regarding restoration of the caretaker government, he asserted that the next general election must be held under a non-party caretaker government.Claiming that restoration of the caretaker government has now become the mass people’s demand, the BNP policymaker said it will be suicidal for the government if it holds the next general election under its own arrangement.“Ninety per cent people of the country are now in favour of this demand (reinstatement of CG),” he said.Locals leaders of the BNP-led 18-party alliance addressed the programme, presided over by the upazila unit Jubo Dal convener VP Jahangir Alam. -UNB, Comilla’
