PM opens Military Hardware Display

Dhaka, Mar 24 (UNB) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday inaugurated the 8-day Military Hardware Display, 2019 at the National Parade Ground in the city on the eve of Independence Day and National Day.

She opened the display in the afternoon by cutting a ribbon and releasing balloons.

The Prime Minister witnessed an attractive fly past of six war planes of the Air Force.

A 20-member team of Bangladesh Army took part in para-jumping from helicopters.

The Prime Minister went round different stalls set up highlighting contributions and heroic role of the Armed Forces in the Liberation War, projecting development and modernisation of the forces by the present government in the last 10 years.

The role of the country’s Armed Forces in building the country and the nation as well as their contributions at UN peacekeeping missions were also highlighted at the stalls set up by members of the three services.

Sheikh Hasina also enjoyed a cultural programme there.

Earlier on her arrival, the Prime Minister was received by Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed, Chief of Navy Admiral AMMM Aurangzeb Chowdhury, Chief of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) Air Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat and PSO of the Armed Forces Lt Gen Md Mahfuzur Rahman.

Members of the cabinet, PM’s advisers, parliament members of Dhaka, the chiefs of the three services as well as high civil and military officials were present. 

Meanwhile, an ISPR press release said the Hardware Display will remain open for the people of all strata from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm on March26-31.

The exhibition will also remain open on March 30 from 12 noon to 5:30 pm for the students of schools and colleges in Dhaka city alongside other people.

Besides, it will remain open on March 31 from 12 noon to 5:30 pm for the families of the members of the Armed Forces and the students of educational institutions conducted by the Army, Navy and Air Force.
