PM shocked at Aug 21 grenade attack victim’s death

Dhaka – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday expressed deep shock at the death of Sheuli Parvin, an August 21 grenade victim and a Dhaka city Mohila Awami League leader.In a condolence message, the Prime Minister recalled her contributions to the party and said Sheuli Parvin was seriously injured in the August 21 grenade attack while taking part in the Awami League rally at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital on August 21 in 2004.
She prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Sheuli Parvin, also a former vice-president of Cantonment thana unit of Mohila Awami League in Dhaka, died today at the age of 65 after suffering from cancer.
Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina had earlier visited her at United Hospital in the city on September 10.
Twenty-four leaders and workers of AL and its associate bodies, including the then Mahila AL president Ivy Rahman, also wife of late President Zillur Rahman, were killed and over 500 others suffered splinter injuries in the attack. – UNB
