Police-journalists view exchange meet in Netrakona

A “views-exchanging meeting” between police and journalists underlined the need for building public opinion by creating mass awareness to take preventive measures against all sorts of crime, terrorism and anti-social activities for further improving the law and order situation of the district.The meeting also emphasized the need for publishing or telecasting  of objective news by media workers  and ensuring people-friendly service delivery by police forces to uphold the truth, justice and human rights side by side with curbing crime and terrorism.
The superintendent of Police (SP) Netrakona Jakir Hussain Khan arranged the meeting at his official conference room here yesterday as part of the “meet the press program” of district police department.
District-level police officers and Netrakona based news persons of different local, regional and national news papers, news agencies and electronic medias attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed overall law and order situation of the district informing that the rate of different crime incidents including terrorism, robbery, extortion, smuggling and gambling  was recorded a significant fall in the district during the month of June last.
The meeting also informed that Police arrested a total of 1161 offenders in connection with various criminal cases including killing, women repression, drug-trading and peddling and gambling from various parts of the district during the month of June last.
