Police now to unearth drug peddlers in BNP politics: Quader

Dhaka, June 5 – Ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has said the law enforcers will now find out drug peddlers who are involved in BNP politics.“BNP leaders and workers who are involved in drugs business will also be found out and brought to book,” he said.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, came up with the statements while addressing a seminar in the city.
“I saw in the newspaper report that drug peddlers and terrorists have been inducted in the BNP’s Dhaka North unit committee. So, they will also be brought to justice,” he said.
About EU demand for an investigation into the killing in gunfights in the ongoing anti-narcotics drive, Quader said, “EU is our development friend and they can demand probe into the killing but I will tell that Sheikh Hasina government is enough over the issue, no one should interfere in the matter.”
The law enforcers have already started an investigation into the killing of Jubo league leader and Teknaf ward councillor Ekramul Haque who was killed in a gunfight in the ongoing anti-drugs drive, the minister said.
Over the next general elections, the AL general secretary said the next polls will be held in due time and if BNP repeats its mistake and boycott the polls, the party itself will be held responsible for that. – Staff Reporter
