A Barisal court on Wednesday afternoon rejecting renewal of bail ordered to sent a assistant superintendent of police to jail for
torturing his wife demanding dowry and engaging in extra-marital affairs.Court sources said ,Anwar Hossain , now working as assistant superintendent of police in Jessore Highway Zone, was accused in case
lodged on March 27, 2013 by his wife Zannatul Ferdous Keya, daughter of Abdul Kuddus of Madina Masjid Sarak in Sagordi area of the city.
Keya, a honours student of social welfare department of Barisal Government Brojo Mohun College , got married with Anwar on April 28, 2010.
Since then Anwar was torturing his wife demanding dowry and engaged with other women in extramarital affairs, said Advocate Sufuia Aktar.
After lodging the case against dowry and torture ASP Anwar granted 8-weeks bail from higher court in that case.
But agitated police official while enjoying bail tried to kill Keya by putting acid on her on April 27 night and acid burnt Keya lodged
another case in this connection on April 28, 2013.
ASP Anwar after ending the bail period surrendering before the chief judicial magistrate court of Barisal on Wednesday with prayer for
extending bail period.
However, Masudur Rahman, CJM Barisal, rejecting bail extension prayer ordered to send him to jail as he committed another offence during enjoying earlier granted bail, pleader of the complainant said.
