A lawyer of the Supreme Court on Monday morning sued police sergeant Selim of Motijheel Traffic Zone (east) on the charge of extortion while the court ordered judicial inquiry into the incident.Advocate Sheikh Shariful Islam filed the case with the court of Magistrate Asaduzzaman Nur accusing the sergeant of demanding extortion. In the case statement, Shariful Islam mentioned that Selim demanded extortion from him on May 4 while he was returning home riding a motorbike.
He said the police official insisted him to pay Tk 2,000 even though he wanted to show the necessary papers of his vehicle.
