Aspirants are going from door to door seeking votes as elections in Lohagora upazila of the district will be held on March 15.
The candidates for both Chairman and Vice-Chairman posts are holding rallies and processions at different villages in the upazila and seeking voters’ blessing for their electoral victory.People from all ages, particularly the youths are bringing out processions in favour of their respective chairman and vice chairman candidates. Leaflets with symbols and photographs of the candidates are being distributed among the voters.A total of 1,51,557 voters are expected to exercise their rights to franchise through 81 polling centres in the upazila.Three candidates will vie for the chairman post, three for vice
chairman post and three for woman vice chairman post.The chairman candidates are Syed Faizur Amir Litu (AL), GM Nazrul Islam (BNP) and Sheikh Masuduzzaman (Independent).Of them, the main contestants are Syed Faizur Amir Litu and GM Nazrul Islam.Vice chairman candidates are Kamrul Islam Bhuyan (AL), M Alomgir Hossen (Jamaat) and Mainul Islam (Independent).Shahanara Laky (AL), Saleha Begum (BNP) and Jahanara Begum (Independent) are contesting for the woman vice chairman post. -BSS, Narail
