Postpone Jan 5 election: Dr. Kamal, Mohsin Montu

President of Gano Forum Dr Kamal Hossain and general secretary Mostafa Mohsin Montu in a joint statement on Thursday urged the government to postpone January 5 general elections and resolve the political impasse through talks.
“The government should arrange for national dialogue among the political parties, intellectuals and professionals by postponing the election without further delay,” said the statement.
It said the unacceptable January 5 elections would deepen the ongoing political crisis. It will push the country’s violent political situation towards further uncertainty.
The polls would also endanger the safety and security of life and property and livelihood of people propelling the country’s education, trade and economy towards disaster, the statement added.
It said the international community has expressed concern over the election which has come under questions.
The statement, signed by office secretary of Gano Forum Nawab Ali, opined that the election would further deepen and prolong the current situation to the people at home and abroad. – Staff Reporter
