Power from plants!

A research team from Concordia University, Canada has developed a special type of power cell that is capable of harnessing electrical energy generated by plant ( blue-green algae used in the present research). The power cell works on the principle that the respiration and photosynthesis actions of the plants’ cells involve electron transfer chains. Plant releases electrons during the photosynthesis, which are used for harnessing power by the new power cell. The inventors of the new power cell are very hopeful to generating electrical power in a cheaper way by taking advantage of the plant’s natural process of photosynthesis.
While congratulating the innovators, I sincerely hope that the newly created power cell would greatly help in producing carbon-free electrical energy.
