Prangonemore will hold its seventh annual theatre festival from March 10 to 18 at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Cultural Minister Asaduzzaman Noor will inaugurate the festival titled “Prangonemore Dui Banglar Natyamela 2017” at the National Theatre Hall of Shilpakala Academy at 6pm on the opening day. Indian high commissioner Harsh Vardhan Shringla will also be present to inaugurate the festival. The cross-border theatre festival will present four Indian theatre troupes alongside five from Bangladesh.
On the closing day on March 18 Prangonemore will confer the annual theatre award for the year 2016. The award is being introduced for the first time in memory of late actor-cum-director Khaled Khan. Three dramas produced in 2016 have already been shortlisted by the Jury Panel of Prangonemore. The dramas are- Crutch-er Colonel by Bot Tala, Gawhar Badshah by Nagorik Natyangan and Matbring by Biborton of Jessore.
Indian dramas to be presented in the festival are- Brain by Sangsriti, Ora Aat Jon by Niva Arts, Nuruldiner Sharajibon by Kalyanir Kalyani Natyacharcha Kendra, Oshukh by Delhi-based Bangla troupe Greenroom Theatre. On the other hand Bangladesh will be presented by theatre troupes Loko Natyadal with Kanjus, Shubochon Natya Sangsad with Pronoy Jamuna, Nagorik Natyangan with Gawhar Badshah and Bonecha Pori, Theatre Art Unit with Morshokam and Prangonemore with Ami O Rabindranath.
