Dhaka – Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club started the six-team super league stage battles of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League crushing Legends of Rupganj by seven wickets in the first round game at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan Ground 3 in Savar on Saturday.
Replying to 260 runs, Sk Jamal reached their destination scoring 262 for 3 in 48 overs where man of the match Unmukt Chand hit 127 off 133 balls, featuring 20 boundaries.
Chand was lbw by Parvez Rasool on 221/3 in 43 overs after sharing 150 off 32.4 overs with Rakin Ahmed and 60 off 8.5 overs with Tanbir Hayder in the 2nd and 3rd wicket stands respectively.
Number 4 Tanbir played an unbeaten 66* off 52 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes, while Rakin hammered 52 off 83 balls with five boundaries before being caught by Abdul Mazid off Syed Rasel on 161/2 in 34.1 overs. Skipper Nurul Hasan added run-a-ball 11* to be another scorer for the side.
Syed Rasel (2/53) and Parvez Rasool (1/51) shared three wickets for losing side.
Batting first after winning the toss, Legends of Rupganj scored 260 for 9 in 50 overs where skipper Naeem Islam (51 off 66b; 4×4), Tushar Imran (48* off 50b; 4×4), Parvez Rasool (44 off 54b; 3×4; 1×6), Mohammad Naim (43 off 53b; 3×4; 2×6) and Mushfiqur Rahim (39 off 32b; 3×4; 1×6) were big hitters.
Robiul Haque captured five wickets for economic 33 in seven overs while Tanbir Hayder (2/48) and Nazmul Islam (1/53) shared three wickets for the winners.UNB
