Dhaka – The vital match of the Green Delta Insurance Metropolis Premier Division Hockey League between neighbours-league leader Dhaka Mohammedan SC and defending champions Dhaka Mariner Young’s Club-will be held on Thursday at 3:30 pm at Maulana Bhashani National Stadium here.The traditional black and white team Mohammedan SC with 39 points needed just a draw against holders Mariner Young’s Club to clinch the league crown while Mariner Youngs Club with 36 points needed an outright victory against Mohammedan to stay in the title race along with Dhaka Abahani Limited.
If Mariner Youngs Club wins the Thursday’s match against Mohammedan SC, then three teams -Mohammedan SC, Mariner Youngs and Abahan Limited-will secure 39 points each to meet each other again for a title-deciding play-offs.
Apart from title decider between two giants, Sonali Bank will encounter Ajax SC in Thursday’s other match at 1:45 pm at the same venue.
Dhaka Abahani Limited, which earlier went down in the title race after losing both of their vital matches against Mohammedan SC and Mariner Young’s in the first phase league, smartly returned to the tittle battle beating both the teams in super-five stage of the league.UNB
