An inmate of the Kashimpur High Security Jail died of cardiac arrest, authorities have claimed.
Doctors pronounced Md Jamal Uddin Mridha, 33, dead after he was rushed to a Gazipur hospital on Monday.
Jail Superintendent Abdur Razzak said Mridha was suffering from heart ailments for some time.He was taken to the jail hospital around 8am after he complained of chest pain.
Later, he was shifted to the Gazipur Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Dr Tapan Kanti Sarker said Mridha was dead by the time the authorities brought him to the hospital.
Mridha was facing trials in two murder cases and an arms case, said jailer Zannatul Fardeen.
He was lodged at the Dhaka Central Jail since 2007 before being shifted to Kashimpur on Jan 24 this year.-bdnews24.com
