Dhaka – Pro-Awami League grand alliance Sammilita Ainjibi Samannay Parisad has won the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) elections against the Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Forum backed by the BNP-Jamaat alliance.
According to the election results, announced by Advocate Harunur Rashid, chief of the election committee, on Friday, Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun of Sammilita Ainjibi Samannay Parisad was elected SCBA president while Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon from Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Forum was elected general secretary.
Of the total 14 posts, Sammilita Ainjibi Samannay Parisad bagged eight while six posts went to Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Forum.
Advocate Taherul Islam of SASP and Advocate Fahima Nasrin Munni of JAOP were elected vice-presidents.
The other office-bearers from SASP are: two assistant secretaries- Advocate AKM Rabiul Islam Sumon and Advocate Sheikh Sirajul Islam, treasure- Advocate Ramzan Ali Shikdar and members—Advocate Khan Mohammad Shamim Aziz, Advocate Nasrin Siddiqua Lina and Advocate Abdul Aziz Mia Mintu.
Advocate Nasir Ussin Samrat, Barrister Nasir Uddin Ahmed Asim, Advoate Rezaul Karim Reza and Advocate Kamal Hossain of JAOP were elected members.
The two-day election to the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) ended on Thursday.
