Produce duck chicks for self-reliance: Speakers

Speakers at the concluding ceremony of a month-long training course on Tuesday called upon the unemployed and poor rural women for producing duck chicks using modern technologies to achieve self-reliance.World Vision Bangladesh (WVB) under Fulbari Area Development Programme (ADP) organised the training course on ‘Duck Hatchery’ in village Palon under Kazihal union of Fulbari upazila of Dinajpur for the Community Based Organisation members.Fifteen female members of Suryamukhi Samobai Samity situated in Kazihal union under Fulbari upazila participated in the training course to acquire practical knowledge and expertise on producing and marketing of duck chicks on commercial basis.Fulbari ADP Manager of WVB Pabitra B Costa attended the concluding ceremony as the chief guest with its Programme Officer Dr. Janottor Chakma in the chair.Programme Officer of Fulbari ADP of the NGO Badal Sangma and its Agriculture Officer Arbindo Roy addressed the ceremony as the special guest.Duck Hatchery experts Abdul Quader and Anwar Hossain of ‘Keya Has O Murgi Khamar’ from Gobindaganj in Gaibandha district conducted the month-long training course.The speakers said that production of quality duck chicks using modern technologies at domestic duck hatcheries could become a profitable venture for the unemployed rural women to achieve economic self-reliance.Participant Lilufa Begum on behalf of the CBO members said, “The training course effectively taught us practical techniques of producing duck chicks for earning handsome profits to become economically self-reliant in our life.” The chief guest put emphasis on enhancing production of quality duck chicks for expanded rearing of duck by the rural women as a profitable venture to meet nutritional demand of their family members.He suggested the participating CBO members for utilising the acquired knowledge in producing duck chicks and rearing of ducks. -BSS, Rangpur
