Properties worth Tk.6 lakh were gutted when a big fire broke out in the village Mallikerber under Rampal Upazila in the district Bagerhat on the night of Saturday.Locals said, that the fire originated from the kitchen belonging to one Harmuz Talukdar of the village at dead night, spread to the adjacent dwelling houses without the knowledge of inmates and when they woke up the fire already went out of control.
On hearing hue and cry of the inmates and on seeing the flame of fire the villagers and the neighbouring people rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after a long fighting for more than three hours.
But in spite of that total five houses belonging to Harmuz Talukdar and Mofizul Talukdar with their all belongings were burnt to ashes. As a result, all the members of the two families were rendered homeless.Rampal Correspondent
