‘Quality education for building enlightened society stressed’

Speakers at a daylong views-sharing meeting have stressed for ensuring quality education at all levels in building an ideal and enlightened society through producing knowledgeable citizens.They put emphasis on skill development of the teachers and proper management in the educational institutions for conducting academic activities amid child-friendly congenial atmosphere under the effective supervision of the school managing committees (SMCs).Fulbari Area Development Programme (ADP) of World Vision Bangladesh (WVB) organised the daylong views-sharing meeting workshop on quality education at Chawrahat Moheshpur High School under Fulbari upazila of Dinajpur on Sunday. Thirty participations including the teachers and male and female members of the SMC and Parents’-Teachers’ Assemblies (PTAs) of Chawrahat Moheshpur High School took part in the meeting.With SMC Chairman of Chawrahat Moheshpur High School Nazim Uddin Mandal, Fulbari Upazila Academic Officer Mohammad Shafikul Islam attended and addressed the meeting as the chief guest. Headmaster of Chawrahat Moheshpur High School Khalilur Rahman, its Assistant Headmaster Nazrul Islam and Programme Officer of Fulbari ADP of World Vision Bangladesh Badal Sangma addressed as the special guests.Upazila Academic Officer Shafikul Islam conducted the meeting as the main resource person to disseminate knowledge for improving standard of education and children-friendly atmosphere in the schools.He also explained meaning and inputs of quality education, prevailing problems and way-outs to ensure quality education, learning and teaching methodologies, national education policy-2010, responsibilities of the members of SMCs and PTAs.The speakers put special importance on acquiring latest scientific methodologies by the teachers to build up genuine teaching capacities and skills in flourishing latent talent of the children through making classes interesting amid congenial atmosphere. They called for sincere efforts and joint collaboration of the government and non-government organisations and school authorities to ensure quality education at all levels including primary and secondary for producing worthy and knowledgeable citizens.The chief guest urged the parents, students, teachers, members of the SMCs and PTAs to ensure child-friendly atmosphere for ensuring quality education through providing time-befitting knowledge to the students to turn them into enlightened citizens. -BSS, Rangpur
