RAB arrests 7 fraud including 2 women from city

Dhaka, Oct 14 (UNB) – Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) rescued an abducted Maldives expatriate Md Ziaul Huque and arrested seven alleged members of a fraud gang, including its two female members, in this connection from Kafrul area in the city on Tuesday.
Arrested gang members are Md Abdul Malek, 45, Rasheda Begum alias Mino, 35, Shirin Akhter alias Mou, 25, Md Khairul Alam, 35, Md Faruk Hossain, 28, Md Shahidul Islam, 25, and Md aruful Islam alias Babu, 25.

Sources at the Rab headquarters said Rab-4 had an information that the arrested gang members kept hostage Ziaul Haque at a house of Kafrul and he was being tortured to realize of Tk 5 lakh as ransom on Tuesday.

Following the information, a Rab-4 team conducted a drive at a house of 428 North Ibrahimpur in Kafrul at around 5:00 pm on Tuesday.

The elite force rescued the victim and arrested the seven gang members from the house.

During interrogation, the arrested people revealed that Malek and Rasheda have been living in the house as a tenant for last several months. Arrested Shirin Akhter Mou developed a love affairs with Ziaul Haque through mobile phone and finally invited him to visit her in the house on Tuesday.

When Ziaul went to the house, the other three gang members suddenly appeared there and took objectionable photographs of him with Mou forcibly introducing them as members of police, journalist and big brother of the area. Then they were demanding ransom from the victim’s relative over phone.w

They also revealed that they have already realized ransom money from several rich people kept them hostage in the same house.
