RAB detains 8 in capital for ‘spreading rumours’ on election

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested eight people from Maghbazar and Mowchak areas on Friday night allegedly for spreading rumour on social media over the Sunday’s national election.
The arrestees are—Mahmudul Hasan, 27, Abdullah Al Noman, 26, Abdul Kader, 28, Morshul Islam, 22, Saiful Islam Mithu, 29, Didarul Islam, 35, Arifur Rahman, 34 and Motahar Hossain, 21.
A team of RAB-2 conducted a drive in the areas and arrested them, said Mufti Mahmud Khan, director of Legal and media wing director of RAB said at a press briefing adding that the arrestees had involvement in making provocative video.The RAB team also recovered video making equipment, laptop and mobile phone sets from their possession.A total 35 people had been arrested in connection with spreading election related rumour, said the RAB official.
