Rangpur Bus Terminal with modern facilities soon

State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Mashiur Rahman Ranga has said the Rangpur Central Bus Terminal is being reconstructed with all modern facilities soon.“The development of Rangpur continues and the trend will persist in the future,” Ranga said while inaugurating reconstruction works of the bus terminal at a cost of Taka 29 crore in a function held here on Wednesday as the chief guest.
Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa presided over the function.
Ranga said reconstruction works of the bus terminal began with financial assistance of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Government of Bangladesh under supervision of the Local Government and EngineeringDepartment.
“After completing reconstruction works, the bus terminal will have all modern facilities with an eye-catching look,” he said.
Mayor Mostafa said the reconstructed two-storied building of Rangpur Central Bus Terminal would have 29,645 square feet area.
There will be a modern workshop, refreshment rooms for drivers and conductors, parking area, 14 ticket counters, three ATM booths, women’s prayer room, two daycare centres, six food shops, one drug store, public toilets, luggage area and sitting arrangements for passengers on the ground
floor of the terminal’s main building.
“On the second floor, there will be a restaurant, children’s playing room, shops, offices of the traffic department, control room, technical department and administrative division, meeting room, public toilets, VIP lounge and rooms,” Mostafa added.
Joint General Secretary of the District Motor Owners’ Association Azizul Islam Raju, City Councilors Tauhidul Islam, Mizanur Rahman Mizu, and Harunur Rashid Harun addressed the function among other, reports BSS from Rangpur.
