Rangpur City Corporation mayor Sharfuddin Ahmed Jhantu and three others were injured in a road crash at Simanta Bazar in Kamarkhand upazila on Sunday.Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Rafiqul Islam Khan said the accident occurred when the jeep, carrying the mayor and Rangpur City unit Awami League Leader Khwaja Mondal Bakul, hit a roadside tree around 12.45pm as one of its front wheels deflated.
He said jeep driver Alal Hossain was among the injured.
Mayor Sharifuddin and the two other injured were rushed to Sirajganj Avishina Hospital, and then moved to Dhaka as their condition deteriorated, the OC said.
