Dhaka city roads waterlogged after heavy rain

Many roads in Dhaka are submerged after incessant rains and huge tailbacks that followed have made commuting miserable around the capital.After it rained throughout Saturday, streets at different city areas like Gulshan, Karwan Bazar, Dhanmondi, Kakrail, Paltan, Mouchak, Moghbazar, Mirpur and Shewraparha were waterlogged on Sunday morning.
Several vehicles and auto-rickshaws broke down after wading through water on the streets.
Drivers were having a hard time on potholes on the roads they cannot see when they are under water.
Moinul Hoque, a resident at Mirpur, said the streets in his area goes under water whenever it rains and traffic snarls follow.
It took two hours to reach Karwan Bazar after starting for office at 9am, he said.
The Met office said the downpour would continue one more day because of the depression in the Bay of Bengal.
The Met office recorded 122 millimetres of rain in the last 24 hours until 6am Sunday in the capital. – bdnews2.com
