Re-polling for Electronic Voting Machine fault in RCC

Returning Office has taken a decision for re-polling in a center of
election to Rajshahi City
Corporation (RCC) after a fault in Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) had
been detected on June 15 RCC election.
The polling in Teachers Training College was held through EVM along
with two other centers for the first time in the city.
But mechanical fault was detected in one of the EVMs where the number
of voters was 310. In wake of the fault, the election office couldn’t
declare the polling result of general councilor
post.
Subhash Chandra Sarker, Returning Officer of RCC election-2013, told
BSS that re-polling will only be held for the post of general
councilor instead of two other posts for Mayor and women  reserved.
He, however, says the polling will be held in manual system instead of
the EVM and the rescheduled date will be announced next.
