Relief distribution to flood victims intensified in Gaibandha

With the deterioration of flood situation in the district relief
distribution activity has also been intensified to the flood victims
here in last few days to mitigate their sufferings.
District relief and rehabilitation office sources said the government
has allocated a total of 100 tonnes of rice and Taka two lakh for the
flood-affected people of Sundarganj, Sadar, Fhulchhari and Saghata
upazilas.
The allocated rice and cash money were being distributed under the
direct supervision of the district and upazila level officials, said
district relief and rehabilitation officer Shah Alam.
On Friday afternoon, as many as six tonnes of rice and cash Taka
15,000 were distributed to the 600 flood victims and river eroded
persons of Mollarchar and Kamarjani unions of Sadar upazila.
UNO of Sadar upazila Mamunur Rashid formally handed over the relief to
the flood and erosion victims on behalf of the administration.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Quazi Anwarul Haque said letters were also sent
to the concerned higher authorities for seeking more 750 tonnes of
rice and Taka 30 lakh for the flood victims of the upazilas. -BSS,
