Repression won’t help; Hasina, Khaleda should sit for talks: B Chy

Bikalpa Dhara President Prof Dr Badruddoza Chowdhury yesterday reiterated his call to two leaders to sit across the table to resolve the political impasse.
“The responsibility of the prime minister (to take initiative for dialogue) is more than other. I hope that good sense will prevail among both the ruling and opposition parties,” he said while talking to reporters at his Baridhara residence.
The former President said the political impasse could not be resolved by resorting to gun and carrying out repression by law enforcers.“The political crisis should be resolved politically. Both the leaders should be liberal and they have to give concession to some extent,” he said.
The Bikalpa Dhara leader questioned the logic behind not holding talks with the opposition saying that when the government had talked to the BDR mutineers and Santu Larma over CHT issue. “Sheikh Hasina can resolve the problem within a shortest possible time,” he added.
He observed that it would be shameful to arrange dialogue by foreigners.
B Chowdhury termed Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan’s statement at Gulshan rally as a laughable matter and asked why he was provoking people.
He said Bikalpa Dhara does not believe in violent politics and anarchy. Party joint secretary general Mahi B Chowdhury was present on the occasion. – Staff Reporter
