Judiciary being used to suppress opposition, dissenting opinion: Bnp

Pointing at a High Court ruling that asks the government to take steps to stop the ongoing violence across the country in the name of hartal and blockade, the BNP in a statement yesterday said democratic movement cannot be stopped through court order.“All the organs of the state have become prisoners in the hands of government. Willingness of a person is being reflected in the judiciary, law and administration. As a result the country and the nation have become victims of state anarchy,” BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed said in the statement from an undisclosed location.
The BNP leader accused the government of using the judiciary to suppress the opposition and opinion of opponents. He said the last sign of fundamental human rights of the people almost on the verge of extinction.
He reiterated that the ongoing movement would continue unless the government accepts their demands.
Salahuddin Ahmed alleged that the present Parliament had turned into a “meeting place of Bikash Marka (Symbol of Bikash) lawmakers.”
He warned the consequence of barring food sup[ply to Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office would not be good. – Staff Reporter
