Dhaka – A suspected robber was beaten to death by a mob at Solakuria on Sagordighi-Bhoraduba road in Ghatail upazila of Tangail early Monday, UNB news agency reported.
The deceased was identified as Biplob, 35, a resident of Khulna district.Acting on secret information that a gang of robbers were taking preparation to commit robbery, a team of police conducted a drive in the area around 1:30am, said Mizanur Rahman, assistant sub-inspector of Ghatail Police Station.
Sensing the presence of police, the robbers managed to flee the scene.
Later, locals surrounded the robber gang and caught four — Biplob, Delwar, Nahid, and Sumon — of them.
At one stage, the agitated locals gave them a good beating, leaving Biplob dead on the spot and three others injured.
Police recovered the body of Biplob and arrested the trio.
The injured were admitted to Ghatail Upazila Health Complex under police custody.
