Robbers shot at two members of a family and looted valuables from an expatriate’s house at Charuruhita village in Sadar upazila early Thursday.
Locals said a gang of armed robbers, numbering 15-20, stormed the house of expatriate Afsar Uddin Bepari at the village at about 3:00 am by breaking open the door and held the house inmates hostage at gunpoint.They looted gold ornaments, cash and other valuables worth Tk5 lakh from the house.
The handlooms opened fire at Kabir Hossain and Mamun Hossain as they tried to resist them.The injured were admitted to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital. On information, police visited the spot.Iqbal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said they launched a drive to track down the robbers.A case was filed in this connection. -UNB, Laxmipur
