Rowshon wants punishment of Italian citizen’s killer

Voicing concern over security in the city’s Baridhara and Gulshan areas, leader of the opposition in parliament Raushon Ershad on Wednesday demanded the government ensure punishment of the killers of Italian citizen Tavella.

In a statement, she alleged various criminal incidents take place in Baridhara and Gulshan areas as there is no adequate security there.

Raushon said though the security had been beeped up in the diplomatic zones following the killing of Saudi embassy official Khalaf Al-Ali, it has again loosened. “The killing of the Italian citizen is one of its instances.”

Cesare Tavella, 50, an official of the Netherlands-based non-governmental organisation ‘ICCO Cooperation’, was shot to death by some miscreants at the end of Road No-90 of the diplomatic zone on Monday night.

Strongly condemning the killing, Raushon urged the law enforcers to bring the killers to justice through a prompt investigation into the incident.

She also conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members of Tavella and his friends.
