RU prepares to observe Language Day, Teachers Day

Rajshahi, Feb 15 – The Rajshahi University authority is taking preparation to observe the ‘Teachers day’ and ‘International Mother’s Language day’ on 18 and 21 February respectively with due respect and somberness.
They have chalked out various programs to mark the days. Student advisor also the member-secretary of Teacher’s Day and Language Day observance committee of RU Prof Dr Laila Arjuman Banu disclosed the programs chalked out to observe the days through a press release.
The university authority plans to observe Teacher’s day on 18 February to commemorate the sacrifice of Dr. Shamsujjoha. He laid down his life on this day in 1969 to give protection to the protesting students against Pak military.
The university authority plans to observe the days by hoisting black flag on the moment of sun rise and placing floral wreath at the grave of the martyr. They will also hold a discussion meeting commemorating Dr. Shamsujjoha at Officer’s Union office on 8:30 am and a special prayer will be held at the Central mosque of the university for the martyr.
The Dr. Shamsujjoha hall authority will hold a discussion meeting and a Doa mahfil and will lit candles to commemorate the martyr.
Marking the ‘International Mother’s Language day’ the university authority will place floral wreath on the Shaheed Minar of the university at 12am of the day and hoist a half -mast flag on the rising of the sun.
The authority will also hold a provat feri on 7 am and will place floral wreath on Shaheed Minar.
The authority will also hold drawing competitions for children and a discussion meeting, Quran khani and monajat and a cultural program to mark the day.
Marking the day Shaheed Smity Sangrahoshala will remain open for visitors from 8.00am to 5.00pm, the release added. – RU Correspondent
