Undue interference by VC PA alleged
Prof M Nazrul Islam, registrar of Rajshahi University resigned Wednesday showing
“personal cause.”
He gave the resignation letter to the university vice chancellor at 11:00am, VC office
sources said.
Though Prof Nazrul resigned by showing personal cause in the resignation letter, he said
that he resigned as the authority are conducting some activities violating the Rajshahi
University Act, 1973 and the decision of syndicate.
He said that “after taking charge I was trying my level best to run the university
administration along with VC, Pro-VC and other high officials. But after the passage of
some months, Shahabuddin Sarker, personal secretary (PS) of VC always interfered with
my administrative work”.
“I also informed the matter to the VC but he did not take any action against his PS”, he
alleged.
Shahabuddin also misleads the VC most of the time for his personal gain, he also alleged.
On contacted, VC PS Shahabuddin Sarker denied the allegation and told that he did those
work what he was empowered by VC.
Contacted RU VC Prof Muhammad Mizanuddin said, “Prof Nazrul has given a
resignation letter to me showing his personal cause. But I am trying to convince him to
withdraw the letter”.
There might be some misunderstanding between the Registrar and my PS adding that I
am hopeful to solve the matter immediately, VC added.
Earlier on March 21, Prof Nazrul was appointed as the registrar of the university. –
