Student of Rajshahi University (RU) submitted a memorandum to the university authority to get permission for entrance to the University Central Library without any condition.
The memorandum was submitted on Thursday to the secretaries Abdus Satter, Alhaj Mozaffar Hossain and Abu Md. Jahirul Alam of VC Professor Muhammad Mizanuddin, Pro-VC Professor Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan and Student advisor Sadequl Arefin Matin respectively because of their absence at the time.
Earlier a Human Chain was formed in front of central library with the same demand. The programme was moderated by Akhtaruzzaman Rony, a 4th year student of Management Studies department.
Md. Al Amin of Management Studies department and Mohammad Roman of Mathematics dept spoke at the programme.
The speakers said there are not such conditions in any university library in the country where students are not permitted to take books and print copies.
Their demands mentioned in the memorandum include- permission of entrance to library with books and other necessary objects, empowering observation management, creating a convenient atmosphere with modern technology and organising workshops on contribution of library to learners knowledge enhancement. — RU Correspondent
